Hello! My name is David Beeley. I am a 73 year old Yorkshireman living in exile in South Gloucestershire. Married to Eveline for over fifty years we have two brilliant daughters, Eleanor and Jessica and three wonderful grandchildren, E.J., Willow and Nora. They live in Ireland and together provided me with the inspiration to get a novel published after 60 years of starting.

In the final part of the Wath Mills allotments trilogy we meet old and new friends including Nora Noodle whose life is a cheerful struggle against poverty and adversity.

Wath Mill Allotments in the Derbyshire town of Newhill are under threat from a housing development. Plot holders must unite to save their tranquil haven, but each have their own dark secrets, conflicts and fears protected by lies.

Wath Mill allotments experience arson, theft, sabotage and near tragedy. A new member brings bitterness, anger, and accusations. Yet there is also love, friendship, and the magical innocence of first love.

I found the title intriguing and the blurb on the back drew me in. I really enjoyed this book. It’s quiet humour and a cast of wonderful characters made for a heart warming story. The main character, William Mullins, became very dear to me and I would have loved to have met him in real life! Lots of stories within stories. Well written with good humour. A great read by a brilliant new author. I look forward to his next one.
